I know how much Leia meant to you, Sooz. Iā€™m glad you were there to say goodbye šŸ’œ

Oh my friend. I'm sending all my love to you and your family.

What you said about telling Leia it was okay to let go -- I've had that experience, too. It's such a feeling to know they're listening, just waiting for confirmation that we'll be okay. Truly, we are so fortunate to have time with such caring little creatures.

Leia was a very good girl. She will be missed. <3

Oh, Sooz, Iā€™m so sorry šŸ˜šŸ’” Sometimes life is just hard and unfair, and all we can do is survive during those periods. Whatever youā€™re doing (or not doing) right now is ok.

So sorry about Leia :( One of the hardest things I've ever done was to say goodbye to a little friend. My heart goes out to you.

I've been considering the reMarkable 2. I currently write with scrivener, edit on paper, and then copy the edits back into scrivener. Is the process the same with the remarkable other than not wasting a ton of paper? Not finding too much on the web.

Right there with you, same challenges. I totally feel these miliion cuts.

The incontinence thing is conquerable. Get fleece belly bands (fun prints!) on Etsy. On Amazon, get "belly bands for male dogs" and some disposable liners. It'll give you both some sanity and comfort back.

Hang in there.

I'm so sorry about Leia. By coincidence, I also lost my dog recently (Dec 30) and she was gone too soon. I'm glad that you were able to keep her collar. I found her toothbrush hadn't been cleared out and decided to keep that with me.

Susan, I've been a lurker on your site for years, silently cheering you on. I've bought several of you YA books, even though I'm a young 66 year old writer. I look forward to the day I have time to write again. I cheered for you when Cricket was born. I've smiled to myself for your victories. And I understand those periods of dark times in Life that wear one down and stubbornly refuse to end.

The sun will show her face again, I promise. Now enjoy your sabbatical. šŸ˜Œ

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I truly think you made it okay for Leia to finally rest. I am glad you had such a loyal friend for all those years. (And I also empathize with the care for incontent pets!) I hope the coming week will be a little easier on you and your family.

I am so sorry, Sooz. Leia was an amazing dog, and you have so much love for her. I'll share the quote from Nona the Ninth that got me through the passing of two longtime pets last fall: Life is too short, and love is too long. šŸ’™
