Your contribution has allowed me to focus more on not only writing about writing, but on nurturing this creative corner of our community. For years, I kept having to pull back and pull back on my publishing + craft advice because I simply couldn’t financially justify the amount of work I put in versus the returns.
As I discussed in my December chat on Author Self Promo***: less than 0.01% of my subscribers ever clicked on a preorder or buy link for my books! It has been truly disheartening to see, and it was a big motivator in pushing me toward Substack last year.
And now, thanks to that transition and thanks to people like you, I have been able to return to creating content I genuinely love and think is important to share. I actually made more in my Substack income than I did in royalties last year!
